Loving this brand driven analysis of hashtag#TedLasso as the season comes to a close. Karen Schnelwar uncovers many key themes here in a thorough, thoughtful & read every word worthy post. It certainly sparked me to think about why I loved the show so much. So here we go. Ted Lasso hit me on many levels. It was funny, endearing, full of examples of hashtag#kindness&hashtag#empathy. But most importantly, it was relatable. We all saw a little of ourselves sprinkled in every character who responded to hashtag#adversity with character, integrity & again the kindness that I know I wish I tapped into more. It was a show with examples of hashtag#capitalism (self-interest) where we could still put others first, maybe after a lesson where putting ourselves first didn't feel like we thought it would, & everyone could still win, even in loss.I think at its core: it was about hashtag#hope. The hope that we could wake up each day & strive to be a better [insert role here that works for you: person, friend, father, husband, boss, leader, etc...] & that the past wasn't something that would get in our way. That we could put the baggage down we all have been carrying around for far too long so that we could move forward ("hashtag#beagoldfish"). We had a YPO event recently with Chris Pan who founded MyIntent.org. It's worth checking out. His goal is to get you to focus on one word that was a reminder or mantra of how you wanted to show up in this world. "hashtag#Grateful" was a common one, as was "hashtag#love","hashtag#brave" & others. For me, mine was "instill hope". I "hashtag#believe" its the main thing I try to do each & every day here at StartUp Health with our amazing hashtag#founders as they try to hashtag#transformhashtag#healthcare. The founder journey is a tough one, but we built our hashtag#community for those tough moments. This Ted classic hits it on the head for me:“I promise you there is something worse out there than being sad, and that's being alone and being sad. Ain't no one in this room alone.”So Ted, as we bid you adieu, thank you. Thank you for your vulnerability & the lessons that kindness doesn't just matter, it is cultural imperative. Thank you for showing us that in the current environment where content that appeals to our fight or flight instincts typically win ratings, a show inspiring us to be a little better each day can balance the scales & be what we want to talk about the next day. Thank you for the touching moments that yes, brought tears of sadness & joy to our eyes, helping us feel more connected & more like one community...one human race.So on this Friday as we end our week I wish everyone an awesome start to summer. Stay human, stay kind. What hashtag#LassoLessons did you learn?
